Stress Solutions – Leveraging Technology
December 9, 2024Stress Solutions - Finishing Strong
The year is winding down and you want to finish strong. However, you want to take care of your team because without them you would not be where you are. Balancing productivity with maintaining a positive work environment can be even more challenging during a stressful season. How can you navigate these competing priorities and ensure both the business and your team thrive during the holidays? Here are some strategies to help you achieve this delicate balance.
Plan Ahead
Amidst all you do in your business or the area you lead, take time to create a plan for finishing the year strong. Map out the work that needs to be completed before the end of the year and set realistic goals and deadlines. By mapping out the work that needs to be completed and allocating resources effectively, you can reduce the likelihood of last-minute scrambles and minimize stress for your team. Consider leveraging technology you may already use to keep everyone on track and focused on the most important priorities.
Set Clear Expectations and Goals
Now that you have a clear plan, communicate it and your holiday work expectations with your team. As early as possible inform the team about any deadlines or important projects that need to be completed, and work with your team to set achievable goals. By setting clear expectations, you can help alleviate any stress or anxiety that your team may feel about balancing work and personal obligations.
Provide Support for Mental Health and Well Being
This time of year can trigger some complicated issues in people’s lives. In whatever way possible, consider offering support for mental health and well-being. If your organization provides this or you know of trusted partners provide an easily accessible area to gain access to these supports. This could include counseling services, stress management workshops, or other outside support.
As the leader, simply being mindful of the mental and emotional needs of your team members can help you lead your team more effectively. By showing your team that you care about their well-being, you can foster a positive and supportive work environment. This positive environment will help decrease stress at work and become a practical support for well-being.
Of these three areas, which do you need to proactively work on to balance business priorities with team well-being during the holidays? Pick one and implement it so you can experience greater productivity, employee satisfaction, and create a foundation for continued success in the new year. Lead Well.
